Now Pandora has over 2 million users on iPhone…
People don’t necessarily have to click on the ads. It enough they see the ads (branding, more than click-through).

I am curious to know why people are clicking on the ad. I would suspect it has a lot to do with the novelty of it. I am not discounting the positive impressions Becks and Best Buy are getting, (not to mention the buzz that comes being first in), but I do question the click through rates for the long term.

Perhaps audio ads are next? But then listeners would just switch to last fm or another ad free alternative wouldn’t they? Unless the all start running radio ads because after all, money is yummy. And if the royalties to artists increase, only the big players, (the ad supported ones with money, ahem Pandora), will survive. First in wins again.

I find it interesting that Pandora is moving into ad serving for mobile phones. I wonder if they’re going to do something for Android phones soon. There’s an idea!
